Head coach of the Vikings Kevin O'Connell is unsure if Josh Dobbs will continue to start.

It's possible that all of the excitement surrounding Joshua Dobbs' arrival in Minnesota evaporated on Monday night.

Following Dobbs' four interceptions in the Vikings' 12-10 loss to the Chicago Bears, head coach Kevin O'Connell of Minnesota expressed uncertainty about Dobbs continuing to start at quarterback while promising to evaluate the position going forward.

"We intend to examine and assess the current repertoire of plays featuring Josh," O'Connell stated in response to a question about whether he would think about switching quarterbacks.

Dobbs concluded the defeat on Monday by successfully connecting on 22 out of 32 passes, accumulating 185 yards. He also managed to throw a 17-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Hockenson in the fourth quarter, despite facing the challenge of four interceptions. Despite encountering numerous difficulties, Dobbs appeared to have positioned the Vikings for yet another thrilling victory. However, Justin Fields, who had previously lost possession twice in the late stages of the game, led the Bears on a remarkable comeback drive to secure the win.

Despite the INT issues, which were not solely his fault as Jordan Addison let one slip through his hands to a defender, Dobbs expressed that he was not preoccupied with whether the takeaways would result in him being benched again.

According to Dobbs, "Honestly, I believe that decision lies with the coaching staff, but personally, I don't think so. My main focus is on myself, how I can contribute to the team's success, and how I can improve as a teammate and quarterback. I prioritize ensuring that the offense is well-prepared for each play and executing at a high level based on the given situation."

Shortly after being traded from the Arizona Cardinals, Dobbs made a significant impact by leading the Vikings to victory against the Atlanta Falcons on November 5th. Just a week later, he played a crucial role in another thrilling win against the New Orleans Saints.

Despite the Vikings' second consecutive loss on Monday, Dobbs' performance was not up to par. He turned the ball over six times in the two defeats and only managed to throw two touchdown passes. These six giveaways since Week 11 are tied for the most in the NFL in that span with Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions. However, the Vikings have some good news on the quarterback front with the return of Jaren Hall and the availability of veteran backup Nick Mullens. O'Connell considered inserting Mullens on Monday but ultimately stuck with Dobbs. While Dobbs has shown the ability to jump-start an offense, his inconsistency has been a problem in the past with other organizations. Despite this, Dobbs remains confident in his ability to lead the team.

The Vikings continued to achieve victories despite the setback of Justin Jefferson's hamstring injury. According to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero's report on Monday, it is likely that Jefferson will be activated off injured reserve by Wednesday. Even after losing Kirk Cousins for the season, the team managed to keep winning with Hall briefly taking over before Dobbs emerged on the scene.

Currently, Minnesota holds a 6-6 record and is heading into their bye week, holding onto the precarious No. 7 seed in the NFC.

Before resuming their season in Week 14 against the Las Vegas Raiders, O'Connell will make the decision on whether Hall or Mullens is the best choice for the future, or if he believes Dobbs still has some surprises in store.

O'Connell expressed his thoughts on Dobbs' performance, stating, "I believe that Josh Dobbs has truly made an impact since joining us on short notice. Going 2-2 in a stretch where many people thought we were at a disadvantage without Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson, goes against the odds. Our team doesn't think that way, and neither do I. We strive to win every football game we play. We will assess our progress, identify areas for improvement, and evaluate our options."

Will Dobbs' inspiring story in the Twin Cities come to a close? It seems that O'Connell will make that decision during the bye week.
